Irvine 11 Press Conference

Yesterday, community leaders and activists spoke at a press conference outside the Santa Ana courthouse in support of the ‘Irvine 11′ students being charged with disturbing a public meeting and conspiracy to disturb a public meeting.  The press conference took place after the prosecutors closing statements in a full courtroom which painted the ‘Irvine 11′ case a simple breach of the written law.  Most in support of the ‘Irvine 11′ have seen the case as an example of selective prosecution, comparing the actions of those accused to numerous instances of on-campus political protests at various Universities.  The remaining 10 students in the case face up to six months in jail.

It is expected that a verdict will be reached today.
