I sat down with the very talented spoken word artist Amir Sulaiman last month to speak about his newest project “The Meccan Openings.” He released the album for free online on the day of Arafat, this past Saturday.
He wrote this on his Facebook page on Saturday:
“im not charging or accepting donations for The Meccan Openings right now because it is a gift to you, my fans, my #lovers and #soldiers. i have a deep gratitude for your presence and your support. surely, more than you know. in addition, i want to make an offering, a sacrifice, of my most precious resource, my art. the Day of Arafat directly precedes the Day of Sacrifice on the lunar calendar. this commemorates the day that Prophet Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son. i am making this album, The Meccan Openings, a sacrifice to remind my self and your selves of the greatness and graciousness of God.”

Amir is amazing as always. The new project is great.
Just finished listening to the album. I’m speechless.
